America has long had a love affair with soup. In fact, we eat more than 10 billion bowls of soup every year. With that in mind, here are America’s favorite soups of all time:
#1. Chicken Noodle
Of course, the all-time classic chicken noodle soup is our favorite. We equate this soup with comfort and healing. Also… it’s simply delicious! These are some of the many, many reasons we offer it here at Portland Kettle.
This is another classic. Tomato is a delicious and hearty side soup to anything cheesy. It’s also a great accompaniment with chicken, turkey, and roast beef sandwiches.
#3. Clam chowder
Again, completely classic. This soup is amazingly rich and delicious. Also, you can go to just about any city on any coast or that is located near a lake, and they will have an amazing local chowder. Yum!
This one surprised us! Potato soup is both delicious and filling, but we didn’t think it would be up there in America’s top 5!
We got these statistics from a survey done by Personal Creations. They appear to only have surveyed America’s top four favorites. But, because there are so many more amazing soups available here at Portland Kettle and generally in America, we decided to dive in further. We don’t have a rated list for the rest of these soups, but all were included on top ten soup lists found across America:
It’s no surprise that a hearty bean soup is extremely popular here in America. We love chili and we love bean soup!
Another American classic, gumbo is a truly American soup.
We love this homage to Italian heritage. Not only is this a hearty and filling soup, it’s incredibly delicious!
We sure do love savory and nourishing soups here in America. It’s possible we adore these filling soups and stews because we serve them as full meals, where many other cultures utilize soup as a simple starter to a many course meal.
This is the stew equivalent to chicken noodle soup for many. It is a definite comfort food.
Cheddar Cheese and Beer
Another comfort food, this cheesy soup is on many top ten favorite lists!
So, while we couldn’t get you an accurate list on the standings of America’s favorite soups from 5-10, now you know what your friends and neighbors are most likely to enjoy.
We offer many of these soups and stews right here at Portland Kettle. Come on down and enjoy!
